BLUE GEMSTONE EARRINGS
SAPPHIRES
SAUDI ARABIAN DIAMONDS AND SAPPHIRE SUITE
For her wedding present, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia gave the Princess a magnificent suite of jewelry as shown in picture below: a sapphire and diamond pendant suspended on a diamond tennis necklace (which also suspends 'The Prince of Wales feathers diamond pendant'), matching earrings, matching ring, a bracelet and a watch. This was made by Asprey.

From 'The Queen's Jewels' p.147 by Leslie Field, 1987
" The Princess of Wales's most magnificent wedding gift was a sapphire and diamond suite from the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. Made by Asprey, it consists of an enormous Burmese sapphire pendant set in a jagged sunray fringe of baguette diamonds and hung on a thin diamond necklace; a matching pair of earrings and ring; a two-row bracelet of brilliant-cut diamonds with a smaller version of the sapphire pendant as a centrepiece; and a wristwatch, the face set in the same diamond sunray fringe and the strap consisting of seven oval sapphires set in clusters of diamonds...."
" The Princess often wears the necklace and earrings, and occasionally the bracelet, but she has used the stones from the watch and ring to make completely new pieces of jewellery. Four of the sapphire and diamond clusters from the watch strap were made into a pair of earrings, with two of the clusters as detachable pendant drops. The oval sapphire from the ring was set in the diamond sunray frame of the watch and is now the centrepiece of a wide choker of midnight-blue velvet backed with Velcro. On either side of the sapphire is a chain of small diamonds, three deep, which runs halfway round the choker. The Princess wore the choker as a headband on her official visit to Japin in 1986, at a State banquet hosted by the Emperor."
SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND CLUSTER EARRINGS
Still part of the Saudi Arabian suite coming from the watch strap.
July 27, 2011 From photo of the complete Saudi Arabian suite above, you can see that the sapphires on the watch are faceted to match the whole suite. This pair of earrings with the attached drops have sapphire cabochons. Perhaps Diana used the diamonds from the watch strap and replaced the faceted sapphires with cabochon sapphire.
SINGLE CLUSTER STUD EARRINGS
The single oval sapphire is surrounded by 10 round diamonds.

SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND CHANDELIER EARRINGS
These diamond and chandelier earrings were only seen once on Diana. This was the original design of the earrings made from the Saudi Arabian suite watch.

SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND DROP EARRINGS
This sapphire and diamond drop earrings are different from the single cluster and double cluster earrings which were created from the strap of the watch according to Leslie Field. In this earrings, the top sapphire is surrounded by 8 diamonds and the bottom sapphire is surrounded by 9 diamonds with a single diamond between both clusters. Both of these sapphires are cabochons.

AMETHYST
NEW TIFFANY AND CO. BY PALOMA PICASSO AMETHYST HEART AND YELLOW GOLD EARRINGS
File photo: Princess Diana wears a signet ring and other rings while at a polo match. At the trial of former Royal Butler Paul Burrell on October 21, 2002 the jury was told of a signet ring that had been given to the Princess by James Hewitt which had gone missing since her death. The police considered the item of jewellery so sensitive that they didn't want to reveal details in open court. | ||||||

Posted Nov. 8, 2013: After scouring photos from gettyimages, corbis, imagecollect and other photo sites, it appears that Diana only wore these earrings twice in public. First time was January 31, 1988 in Australia and second time was June 29, 1988 to watch Prince Charles play polo. Perhaps she received it as a present during Christmas 1987. These earrings are from Tiffany & Co. by Paloma Picasso. One of Diana's closest friends, Rosa Monckton was the head of Tiffany and responsible for bringing Tiffany to the UK in September 1986. In 2000, Rosa was recruited to head Asprey & Garrard. She stayed in Asprey until 2004. You can read more about Rosa on these links:

TEARDROP EARRINGS
From 'The Queen's Jewels' p. 147 by Leslie Field, 1987
"...However, some of the sapphire jewellery that the Princess wears in public is in fact fake, such as four favorite pairs of earrings. First she had tiny 'diamond' flower-shaped studs from which could be suspended 'sapphire', 'ruby' or 'diamond' pendants;..."
